Southampton attracks some fantastic international musicians to our vibrant city! We also have a thriving underground music scene, with several really exciting up and coming bands that are certainly going to make it big over the next few years! Here at Singing Lessons Southampton we really encourage our singing students to go and see as many gigs as possible to learn all about the stagecraft of being a successful frontperson! There is much more to singing live than simply just singing - think Freddie Mercury! Southampton Guildhall is a huge music venue in Southampton that attracts some of the biggest bands on the international circuit to rock audiences of over 1,750 fans! Located at The Civic Centre, SO14 7LP, the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, The Maccabees, The Wombats, Band of Skulls, Friendly Fires, Ellie Goulding and Thin Lizzy are just a few of the bands that have performed during the last two years! Any true music fan in Southampton should keep their eye on who is performing here, with extremely reasonable ticketprices for the extremely high level of artist who plays here! No doubt it will be you one day up on that stage performing to a packed hometown crowd!

The Mo Club is an extraordinarily diverse music venue that doubles up during the day to become a roller skating cafe hangout! Bands like Natives, Fear Factory, Devin Townsend Project and TesseracT have rocked the surprisingly large venue capacity of 400 - a local venue perfectly sized for a medium sized local band. Located down at the West Quay Road Industrial Estate, SO15 1GZ, the Mo Club is certainly worth checking out!

The University of Southampton Student Union has played host to some amazing gigs over the years, from T-Rex in the late 60s to Chase & Status in the late 2000s! The likes of We Are Scientists, Pete Doherty, The Hold Steady (pictured) and Feeder have performed to packed student audiences in more recent times with the 900 capacity venue being sold out more often than not! If you are the singer of an up and coming local band you should be knocking the door down of the University's SU to get a supporting slot alongside some of these great bands! Located on University Road, SO17 1BJ the SU should be a staple diet for all local music fans, students and non-students alike!

The Talking Heads located at 320 Portswood Road, Portswood, SO17 2TD is the heart and soul of Southampton's underground music scene! The 300 capacity venue is regually filled by sweat dripping music enthusists watching some of the best local and national bands around. The likes of Skindred, The Duke Spirit, Your Demise and Sean Taylor are just a few of the bands that have rocked audiences and with regular nights to showcase the best bands from Southampton University it is well worth getting yourself down there! It is also the perfect place to start your gigging career if you are a local band in Southampton! Great music venue, see you there!
